Historical Museum - Heritage Site - Gift Shop

The Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail (FHM) is operated by the Fauquier Historical Society, a 501(c)3 non-profit. We aim to stimulate interest in Fauquier County and Virginia history by preserving the evidence of our past, connecting it to our present and educating the community about its importance to our future. FHM is a local museum, housed in an 1808 and 1823 jail, in Warrenton beside the Fauquier County Courthouse.

"It's a rich museum where even the building tells an amazing story.  Interesting exhibits, a lovely gift shop and a great thing to do in a charming and historic town."

"There's plenty to see here whether you believe in ghosts or not, and it's free! If you're a history buff or are on the hunt for a deceased soul that hasn't quite yet crossed over, take a visit through the old jail. Worth it!"
